Lightwire's first generation products are targeted at a well defined and fast-growing market segment - 10 Gbps Ethernet optoelectronic interconnects in the MSA SFP+ format. They solve the major issues facing the SFP+ market - power consumption and signal integrity. Lightwire's second-generation products will be targeted at 8.5 Gbps Fibre Channel and very short reach SFP+ active cable solutions. Third-generation products will target multi-channel 40 and 100 Gbps interconnect applications.
The Lightwire LSME10XX 10Gbps Small Form-factor Pluggable Plus (SFP+) LRM transceiver module is a modular building block used by networking equipment manufacturers to develop standard, high-performance plug-and-play 10Gbps interfaces between computers, servers and network equipment connected in Ethernet-based networks at distances up to 220m.
The LSME10XX SFP+ Optical Transceiver module is compliant with the SFP+ Multi-Source Agreement (MSA) specification and is designed for applications including 10GBASE-LRM 10G Ethernet per the IEEE 802.3 CL68 standard. It uses an industry-standard LC duplex receptacle interface.
Key advantages of this industry standard compliant module include an extremely low power dissipation of under 0.4 Watts, higher operating temperature range, superior signal characteristics that result in lower bit error rates, lower electro-magnetic interference or EMI for reduced noise and signal cross-talk. Built-in diagnostics simplify design and debug and the use of continuous wave (CW) 1310nm FP lasers reduce module cost.
