Job Title: Optical Design Engineer
Job Description:
- Overall responsibility for design, development, and testing of free space optics based upon Lightwire’s revolutionary photonics in silicon technology.
Responsibilities:
- Simulation, design, and characterization of free space optical coupling into thin silicon waveguides.
- Simulation, design, and characterization of traditional free space optical coupling.
- Work with mechanical, electrical, packaging, and manufacturing engineers to implement cost effective, manufacturable product designs.
- Develop detailed drawings / specifications as required.
- Experimental measurements confirming simulations.
Background:
- MS or PhD in optics engineering or equivalent.
- Minimum of 5 years of related experience.
- Experience with Software simulation packages such as BeamProp, ZEMAX, ASAP, FDTD required.
- Previous experience with both prototype and volume manufacturing strongly desired.
- Lab experience with optical measurements and optical test equipment required.
