Job Title: Mechanical Development Engineer
Job Description:
- Overall responsibility for mechanical design of electro-optic assemblies based upon Lightwire’s revolutionary CMOS photonic technology.
Responsibilities:
- Mechanical design including modeling and simulation via FEM (e.g. ANSYS or Mechanica) and incorporation of temperature, material properties, and manufacturing tolerance requirements. Â
- Thermal design including modeling and simulation (e.g. via FlowTherm / IcePak) and verification (e.g., via wind-tunnel testing).
- Creating product drawing with GD&T per ANSI Y14.5M.
- Designing components that are manufacturable in high volume via injection molding, die-casting, stamping, and wire-cutting processes.
- Production equipment specification for manufacturing as needed.
- Develop electro-optical mechanical fixturing as needed.
- Experimental lab measurements.
- Overseas travel required periodically.
Background:
- MS or PhD in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
- Minimum of 5 years of related experience.
- Opto-electronic packaging strongly desired.
- Experience with Solid Works simulation package or similar product required.
- Experience with designing for thermal management required.
- Previous experience with both prototype and volume manufacturing required.
- Lab experience with optical measurements and optical test equipment strongly desired.
