Lightwire's mission is to deliver the lowest power, highest performance 10 Gbps and faster interconnect solutions using advanced CMOS photonics technology.

Lightwire's strategy is to deliver disruptive technology to the market in incremental steps, starting with standards-compliant 10 Gb SFP+ optical modules and moving to 40 and 100 Gbps modules in 2009.

Lightwire adds to its value proposition by partnering with key suppliers of essential technology and manufacturing expertise. It has worked closely with Singapore government-supported research and development organizations such as the Institute of Microelectronics (IME) a research arm of the Singapore Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) to develop and validate its CMOS photonics technology and migrate it to a proven high-volume CMOS fabrication process. It has joined IME and Chartered Semiconductor, one of the world's highest volume dedicated semiconductor foundries, to place its product production onto Chartered's proven commercial CMOS fabrication facilities. Lightwire has also established a working relationship with high-volume optical module manufacturers in Asia to ensure a reliable, high-volume flow of qualified, high reliability product.
